Guinness Jazz Festival
In 1978 Ireland’s first jazz festival was an instant success with thousands of fans coming to Ireland’s scenic ‘southern capital’ city of Cork. The festival is Ireland’s biggest jazz event and attracts hundreds of musicians and thousands of music fans to the city each year.
Over the years the many of the top names in jazz have featured including Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Buddy Rich, Oscar Peterson, Lionel Hampton, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and dozens more.
A visit to Cork during the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is a must for all music lovers. Over 40,000 people now visit the festival each year from many parts of the world. Guinness became the major sponsor in 1982.
